Hiring Department: Office of International Programs & Study Abroad
Posting End Date: Open until filled.
Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends
FLSA status: Exempt
Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.
Salary: $35,568 Annually

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.
Purpose of Position
Essential Functions
Provides advising to in-bound and out-bound students who participate in study away, study abroad and international exchange programs, including semester, short-term, academic year and faculty-led programs.
Responsible for actively marketing and promoting study abroad/study away opportunities to students and collaborating with faculty and international partners on program development. This position will act as an
Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) and work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff and partners locally and globally in order to provide appropriate documents, services and support for students and Scholars studying and/or conducting research at UTEP as a result of exchange programs and institutional partnerships.
Advises in-bound and out-bound students on all aspects of studying abroad/away including application and related paperwork, course registration, scholarship applications and the issuance on immigration paperwork for in-bound students.
Manages the recruitment, selection and pre-departure/re-entry programs for out-bound students and the arrival/check-in program and orientation for in-bound students including the administration of any assessment related to learning outcomes and program-specific evaluation.
Coordinates activities and events that promote study abroad/study away opportunities for students including but not limited to study abroad fairs and culture/country-awareness activities, including scholarship opportunities.
Works closely with the leadership of the department and all program stakeholders to understand and interpret program goals (e.g. academic goals, intercultural competency goals, operational goals), to identify learning outcomes and metrics for ongoing program assessment; synthesizes and analyzes data gathered from students and faculty to enhance students' learning and program effectiveness.
Supports and communicates with students, staff, faculty and parents regarding program specifics and maintains communication with students and faculty while they are abroad including parents as needed.
Assists in the day-to-day operations of the department and Study Abroad Center including maintaining accurate study abroad databases, the issuance of scholarship funding, inter-department billing and invoices from institutional partners and representing the department at University meetings and events.
Complies with all Federal, State and University Policies.
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree
and
Experience: Two (2) years of experience working in a student-centered environment or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience with computer applications/software and database systems.
Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual (Spanish/English). Good verbal and writing skills. Background in editing, proofreading, creative writing and/or writing marketing content.
