The Sr. Accountant will be a key player in improving and revamping all monthly reconciliation and reports by using advanced Excel skills and possible AI templates. This role is responsible for senior duties associated with the full cycle accounting tasks for the AORN Foundation (501-C3). This includes duties related to journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. This role is responsible for properly reviewing day to day tasks, monthly reports, and reconciliations as they relate to the AMS System/Nimble. This role is the expected to be the subject matter expert for the organization in these accounting aspects of the AMS/Nimble System. This role will be expected to proficient in  all the systems used by the accounting department, including MS Dynamics SL, Nimble, BI360-Solver, and Certinia (Salesforce).

AORN is based in Denver, CO. Our Sr. Accountant will work in a hybrid capacity with 2-3 days in the office each month.

More about what you’ll get to do as our Sr. Accountant:

  • Serve as the primary accountant for the AORN Foundation subsidiary.
  • Manage monthly tasks related to the Foundation, including bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare the Foundation monthly financial reports and analyses.
  • Assist in Grant Tracking Schedules for Foundation.
  • Streamline monthly reconciliations to enhance automation. 
  • Manage the processing of daily batching for AMS System for AORN and its Subsidiary.
  • Complete monthly AMS close and upload journal entries for both companies.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for the eCommerce site in the AMS. 
  • Review and report products sold in the AMS system, including forecasting.
  • Prepare monthly dues entry and analyses as needed, including forecasts. 
  • Complete and prepare budget schedules with department leader of assigned budgets.
  • Reconcile and analyze assigned balance sheet accounts. 
  • Assist in preparing year-end audit related work papers.
  • Provide back up support as necessary to other accounting staff.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Must Have’s to be our Sr. Accountant:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. 
  • 4-7 years of experience in a general accounting role.
  • Proficiency with Excel, including Macros, pivot tables, cleanup tools, and automation tools. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • CPA License or candidate a plus 
  • Experience with accounting and budgeting software including Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, Certinia, BI360 Solver, and Nimble
  • Previous experience with payroll and payroll allocations. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proficient with MS Office and Windows applications, advanced experience in Excel required for analysis, reporting, spreadsheet design.
  • Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Professional level written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, combined with the capability to accept interruptions or change in job focus based on change in priorities.
  • Aptitude for working in detail while understanding “the big picture.”
  • Ability to function independently and make decisions on daily business matters.
  • Ability to interact professionally with different levels of staff. Effective organization skills including the ability to work under tight time constraints using time management and prioritization skills to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills including the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where limited standards exist, ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages as well as the ability to apply the concepts of fractions, percentages, or ratios to practical situations.
  • Ability to keep restricted information confidential.

Hiring Salary Range: $89,000 - $97,000 annually

FLSA Status: Exempt

Working Conditions
This position requires the use of computer daily. Attendance at scheduled meetings as required. Open to occasional travel as needed to support Association activities.
