Professor of Practice in Entrepreneurship

The Woody L. Hunt College of Business at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position in Entrepreneurship. We seek a dynamic and experienced individual with a substantial and proven track record in startups, commercialization, capital acquisition, and other entrepreneurship-related activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing our entrepreneurship programs and supporting our students and faculty across the University in entrepreneurial endeavors. Hiring decisions are subject to final budget approval. The expected start date is negotiable and can be as soon as the offer acceptance is finalized.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in entrepreneurship, innovation, and related fields.
  • Develop and implement experiential learning opportunities, such as startup incubators, pitch competitions, and business plan development.
  • Mentor students and guide startup projects, commercialization strategies, and securing funding.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance the entrepreneurship curriculum and integrate real-world experiences.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with the entrepreneurial community, including investors, entrepreneurs, and business leaders.
  • Contribute to centers and other initiatives across the University related to entrepreneurship, focusing on serving Hispanic consumers and educating the community on entrepreneurship.
  • Engage in community outreach activities to promote entrepreneurship, support local startups, and actively engage in activities to enhance the region's quest for economic development.
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities as required.


Job Requirements:
  • MBA, Ph.D., or equivalent advanced degree in Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Substantial and proven experience in entrepreneurship, including founding or leading startups, commercialization, capital acquisition, and other related activities.
  • Demonstrated success in securing funding from investors, grants, or other sources.
  • Strong network within the entrepreneurial ecosystem, including connections with investors, entrepreneurs, and business leaders.
  • Excellent teaching and mentoring skills with a passion for student success.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and the broader community.
  • Experience in developing and delivering experiential learning opportunities in entrepreneurship.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in serving Hispanic markets or working with Hispanic entrepreneurs.
  • Knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities faced by Hispanic entrepreneurs.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency is highly desirable.
