REPORTS TO:                   Director of Adult Education

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: The Adult Education Center in Hartford will operate its program from August 2024 through June 2025. Teachers provide classroom instruction in the Adult Education Center and/or satellite sites Classes are offered in ESL and GED/ABE (English), ABE/GED (Spanish), NEDP and Citizenship Hours range between 4 - 15 hours per week, Monday through Friday (a few classes meet on Saturday and/or Sunday at satellite locations). Classes meet at various locations.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES OF IDEAL CANDIDATE:

·       Must possess and maintain appropriate Connecticut Certification or Adult Education Endorsement

·       Experience with ABE, GED, NEDP, ESL and Citizenship programs

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Part-time hourly rate of $40 in accordance with the Hartford Public School System salary schedule. No paid holidays, vacation or paid sick leave during this scheduled program period.

UNION AFFILIATION: Hartford Federation of Teachers (HFT).

Education & Certification Requirements

Candidates must have a conferred bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and must also possess and maintain the certification and/or licensure requirements for this position as established by the Connecticut state statutes. 

Salary

The hourly rate is $40.00 per hour.
