Job Summary

The Nurse Clinician will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care within the College of Dentistry. This position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including providing patient care during consultations, pre-operative preparation, surgical procedures, and post-operative recovery. The Nurse Clinician will also deliver wound care, coordinate care across multiple clinics, and serve as a backup nurse as needed.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Monitoring and documenting baseline, intra-operative, and post-operative vital signs, promptly reporting abnormal readings or relevant health history to the provider.
  • Administering medications under the verbal order of the provider.
  • Acting as a primary point of contact for patients and healthcare entities.
  • Conducting post-operative evaluations to ensure patient readiness for transport following sedation procedures.
  • Preparing patients for sedation procedures by managing nasal cannulas, blood pressure cuffs, ECG leads, pulse oximeters, intravenous catheters, and other necessary preparations.
  • Completing the surgical timeout process to verify patient identity, procedure details, consent, and supplies before administering medications.
  • Reviewing post-operative instructions with patients and serving as an escort when necessary.
