Job Description: Course work and post-secondary teaching experience in the following areas: Fundamentals of Music, Music Literature, American Music, Non-Western Music, Class Piano, Chorus, Instrumental Ensemble, Band, Music Theory and/or Orchestra
General Duties: Create class syllabus and plan course content under the direction of the Dean and Academic Chair. Effectively utilize RVC’s Learning Management System (Canvas), assess student progress on an ongoing basis, maintain student records, respond to students in a timely manner, maintain online office hours weekly and meet with students on an as needed basis, assist with program/curricular assessment, and participate in department meetings, collaborate with the Academic Chair and Dean.- Collaborate with Academic Chair and Dean to coordinate Music Department events on campus and off campus.
- Work some evenings and weekends to execute Music Department events.
Minimum Qualifications: Earned Master’s Degree in Music, Music Education or related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Music and immediate ability to teach multiple sections of Music courses.
Preferred Qualifications:
- (College-level) Teaching and Assessment Experience
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional growth/development in discipline (professional organizations, webinars, conferences, trainings, workshops, etc.)
- Experience working with diverse populations that reflect Rock Valley College’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Core Values (Cultural Competence, Equity-mindedness, Fairness, Mutual Respect, Objective Truth, Sense of Belonging & Solidarity)
