Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a IT Project Manager to work in our Information Technology department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off. Remote or Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position.

You will report to the Manager of the IT Project Management Office. You will use specific knowledge about one or more areas of information systems to research, plan, communicate and achieve objectives through project teams. Contribute to the design, implementation and modification of IT projects that span across functional organizations.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead/manage IT projects from conception through implementation and closeout by using project management knowledge, and standard methodologies. Create, track, and oversee project schedules, budgets, and create necessary project documentation such as Work Breakdown Structures, Project Plans, Risk Registers. Develop and manage annual work planning for assigned projects. Elicit, gather, oversee, and document business and technical requirements. Improve and refine processes, methods, and best practices while ensuring quality project delivery.
  • You will ensure that the scope of work to be performed is clear, concise, and executable by working with the customer and the primary owner to establish firm project/task requirements. Resolve conflicts with customer requirements, technical activities and project team member performance. Develop strategies to support specific projects and the overall strategic goals of assigned directorate and department.
  • Lead diverse, multidisciplinary teams on IT system projects to support mission strategy and INL business development. Fill multiple project roles (e.g., Business Analyst, Customer Relationship Manager, Project Controls, Scheduler) Lead projects in multiple methodologies (Agile, waterfall, etc.)  Understand what the end goal of the project is by using multiple business analysis methods. 
  • Be the primary contact with customers and partners throughout the lifecycle of the project from conceptual initiation through closeout.  Collaborate with different audiences including senior and executive level management, employees, and specialists. 
  • Communicate project status, risks, mitigation plans, and other necessary information to main project personnel, partners, and sponsors.
  • Help with the daily direction, mentoring, oversight, and peer reviews for junior staff members. Effectively manage assigned staff, projects, including project staff, to ensure cost-effective technical services are performed observing standards, sound engineering practices, good science, and all applicable orders and directives. This includes participation in the annual assessment process, recurring one on ones, and goal setting for members of the team.
  • Responsible for preparation of corrective action plans, project budget estimates, project schedules and task baseline agreements for several projects that vary in complexity and resource funding ranging from several thousand dollars to several million dollars. 
  • Directly partner with customer management teams and leadership in setting strategic short and long-term direction for supported programs. 
  • Oversee the daily work and assignments made to members of the team.
  • Participate in interviews for new team members members
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Management or related field with 9 years relevant experience , or advanced degree and 6 years relevant experience or 15 years experience in lieu of degree.
  • Direct work experience in field.  6+ years of working in or closely with the IT (Information Technology) or IM (Information Management) arenas.
  • Experience functioning as a Business Analyst required. 
  • PMP Certification required.
  • Demonstrated experience providing direction, strategic and tactical planning, and overall leadership and execution of large, complex, and technically challenging programs requiring multidisciplinary integration across multiple organizations.
  • You will be subject to the requirements of DOE O 142.3B, Unclassified Foreign National Access Program.


Job Information: 

  • The pay range for this position is ($91,008 - $186,588). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
