POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

COOPERATIVE EDUCATION ASSISTANT

Office Location(s): Lincoln Central Academy (LCA) Extension Campus, 204 Union Street, Fayetteville, TN

JOB FAMILY: Support Staff -Hourly                                           CLASSIFICATION: Temporary, Part-Time

HOURS: 7:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (maximum 27.5 hrs./wk.) SHIFT: Days, Mon-Fri

DIRECT SUPERVISON FROM: VP of Academics and Compliance   

The Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology (TCATs) serve as the premier suppliers of workforce development throughout the State of Tennessee. We are currently seeking to fill the position of Cooperative Education Assistant to be located at our Lincoln Central Academy (LCA) Extension Campus in Fayetteville, Tennessee.

SUMMARY

The Cooperative Education Assistant works under the supervision of the VP of Academics and Compliance providing clerical support related to the promotion of enrollment, retention, job placement, student learning objectives, and career-specific skill development. He/she will serve as Co-op liaison, preparing relevant reports, correspondence, and tracking for faculty at all TCAT Shelbyville campuses and industry partners.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduate or the equivalent as determined by the High School Equivalency Test (HSET).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point), with above average keyboarding skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous work experience at a technical college or related higher education institution.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of business English and math, and of current office technology, equipment, and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office 365 and other basic computer software.
  • Ability in typing, duplication, filing, completion of reports and numerical accounting skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships and to deal tactfully with students, faculty, staff, industry partners, and the public.
  • Strong customer service skills; effective oral and written communication skills; critical thinking skills, and excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly, and to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Answer and relay incoming calls, greet and assist visitors, disseminate information about the institution in person, by telephone, and by email, or virtual contact.
  • Serve as co-op liaison, preparing reports, document tracking, record keeping, and communication.
  • Assist instructional staff with clerical needs and basic computer support. 
  • Assist with tours and coordination of campus events as needed.
  • Assist with Career Services activities including job fairs, resumes, cover letters and interview techniques.
  • Assist with Dual Enrollment activities as needed.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Adhere to the school calendar and daily class schedule.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled staff climate surveys.
  • Coordinate necessary absences with VP of Academics and Compliance and to coincide with student breaks.
  • Work a maximum of 27.5 hours per week.
  • Other duties as defined by administration.

HOURLY WAGE: $18 per hour, commensurate with experience and TBR/Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines.
