Summary:
Responsible for coding invoices for payables, including general ledger coding. Attaches purchase orders that have been created by the site staff to the appropriate invoices.  Works with site staff to verify information when classification is unknown.  

Expectations:
Expected to follow and understand established procedures and complete routine calculating, posting, and reconciling. Generally given explicit instructions, substantial guidance and direction.  Needs assistance in prioritizing and setting deadlines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Processes invoices, including verifying purchase orders and receiving tickets.
  • Codes invoices and credits to the accounting system in support of the payables work.
  • Develops and maintains reports and files on the accounts payables processing.
  • Updates invoices for general ledger entries for account charges.
  • Supports Operations and Asset Management teams with invoice coding and purchase order tracking.

Community Involvement:
Encouraged to belong to and/or serve on committees of local service clubs, charitable giving programs, merchant associations, Chamber of Commerce, or other business networking groups. Encouraged to participate in service projects, and to establish and maintain contacts within the community to promote Centerspace.

  • Education and/or Experience – High school diploma or equivalent experience is required. 1-3 years’ experience in accounting or accounts payable is preferred.
  • Physical Demands – While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work Environment – The noise level in the work environment is usually very quiet.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Language Skills – Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of automated accounting systems. Must be proficient with spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft Excel.
